What it does

This Add-on will allow you to easily move/archive rows of data from one Google Sheet™ (tab) to another, within the same file. If you prefer something a bit quicker than cut/paste and with less chance of human-error. It will also remember your individual preferences for each file so it is even quicker to use next time around.

Example uses:
  • Checking off to-do lists.
  • Stock-taking spreadsheet.
  • Maintaining a list of subjects.

Updates

December 2023
  • Google™ are still yet to release the ability to handle Smart Chips in Google Sheets.

Instructions

  1. Install the Add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace™.
  2. You must ensure you are not logged into multiple Google™ Accounts at the same time when accessing this tool. If in doubt try an incognito window.
  3. You can access the tool from any Google Sheet™, by clicking the 'Show side panel' button at the far bottom right of the Sheet. Then select the 'Archive Sheet data' icon to open the Add-on (if you already had your Google Sheet™ open when you installed the Add-on then you may need to refresh the page first for the new icon to appear).
  4. When you are ready click 'GET STARTED'. Use the dropdown boxes to select where you are moving data from/to (your preferences will automatically be saved for future). Remember to ensure you have copied the Header row to your destination tab so that the row of data can be appended under it.
  5. Now click anywhere in the row of the data that you want archiving and then select the 'ARCHIVE ROWS' button.
  6. A success message will confirm it has been moved. Click the 'BACK' button to return and continue archiving to your heart's content!

Use the 'Settings' button in order to adjust the type of formatting you want to preserve or to be able to select multiple rows of data.

Caveats

The Add-on does not transfer:
  • Cell Comments - recommended you create a separate column for Comments if you wish to retain these.
Also note:
  • Tickboxes will retain their value but will become 'true' or 'false' in the destination tab.
  • Formulas will be lost but the resultant value maintained eg if you have a 'SUM' formula in a cell it will archive the total of that Sum.
  • There will be no 'cell history' available as the entire source row is deleted after the move. 'Version history' still remains available however.

Payment

  1. This Add-on has a 14 day free trial period then requests a monthly subscription of £5 (British Pounds) to continue using it and all features. No adverts, no in-app purchases, no price increases.
  2. PayPal™ handles all of the payment process - I do not see or store any credit card information. You do not require a PayPal™ account - there is a 'guest' checkout option.

  4. The first payment should be processed within 2 hours. Please close down and re-launch the Add-on after this time.

Privacy Policy

Who is requesting Google user data? I am an individual developer making my tools available to all that want to use them. All of the data is stored within the Google™ environment, I am the only one with access to it and it is not shared with any third parties. There are no ads and no emails generated from any of the data. No other personal/sensitive data is collected and processed by me.

What data are you requesting? The Add-on does not access any sensitive scopes or private user data. It does not collect or store any of the data it is archiving. It does retain the below information in order to create your preferences and subsequently open faster:
  • The ID of the Google Sheet™.
  • The names of your source/destination tabs.
  • Your formatting preferences (eg colours, styles) - saved only as values such as 'fontStyleOn', 'fontSizeOn' for example.
  • Your Google™ email address so that your licence can be assigned and account validated when you run the Add-on.

Why are you requesting Google user data? The Add-on needs access to the current Google Sheet™ file in order to be able to move the data. As mentioned above your user preferences are saved to allow a faster interaction with the Add-on going forwards without the need to repeatedly select your Google Sheets™.

The 'Archive Sheet data' app's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
